CAUTION:
Break Strength: The breaking strength of a tie down assembly is the load at which a new tie down assembly will break when tested under laboratory conditions. Break strength should not be mistaken for safe working load.
Safe Working Load: Because of the wide range of tie down uses, tie down conditions and the degree of risk of life or property, it is not possible to make a blanket recommendation for safe working load or safety factors. The safe working load indicated on the package is only intended as a guideline. It is ultimately dependent on the tie down user to determine what percentage of break strength or safety factor is necessary for the user’s intended application.
Wear: Tie downs wear out with use; the more severe the usage, the greater the wear. It is often not possible to detect wear on a tie down device by visible signs alone. Therefore, it is recommended that the tie down user determine a retirement criteria for tie down devices in their application.
